on-lace front wigs are wigs that have all of the same components of a lace front wig, without the lace at the front. This does will mean that the very front of the wig when worn can be more challenging to create a natural hairline with. This is because there is no lace at the front to give the wig a seamless hairline look.
We create our wigs with the softest most exclusive hair to avoid a fake high shine so that this can add a touch of realisticness to your no glue wigs. Non-lace wigs are perfect for your first buy or for an Instagram photoshoot! We try to only make our non-lace wigs 150% density to ensure our wigs are not too thick and can lay flat at the front.
There are still many ways a non-lace wig can look natural and our customers are killing it right now!
HOW TO MAKING A NON-LACE WIG LOOK NATURAL?
By Emma & Stuart | June 14th, 2021 | Wig Wisdom
Lace front wigs are renowned for helping wig wearers achieve a natural look. However, if you’ve had a look at our guide on how to choose the right wig for you and decided against a lace front, you might be wondering how you can make your non-lace wig look natural. We’re sharing some tips and tricks to make sure that your wig looks just like natural hair so you can step out feeling fabulous, no matter what type of wig you’ve opted for!
1. Consider Cap Type
Even if you don’t want to use a lace front, the style of wig cap you choose can make a difference in making your non-lace wig look natural. We have more information in our guide to wig cap construction but, specifically in terms of how to make non-lace front wigs look natural, you should consider:
2. Parting
Okay, so you’ve picked out your perfect wig cap – the next step is to customize it. One of the most important elements to keep in mind when making a non-lace wig look natural is ensuring that the parting blends in with your scalp.
If you have hair under the wig, try to part it in the same place as you part the wig so that your scalp is directly underneath it. Then, carefully, take some concealer in your skin tone and apply it to the parting between the hairs. This ensures that the wig looks like it’s coming from your natural scalp rather than a cap. Applying setting powder will remove the shine from the concealer, leaving a perfectly natural look!
However, if you’re wondering how to make a non-lace front wig look natural but you would rather not play around with concealer and powder on your wig, opt for a wig with a fringe. A blunt or side-swept fringe will disguise the hairline nicely, so you won’t have to worry.
3. Shine
If you have a synthetic wig, sometimes the fibers can look a little shiny, especially when you first wear it. For a more natural look, you could try some of our tips for making a synthetic wig less shiny.
4. Baby Hairs
Sometimes, you put on a wig and it looks amazing, but something is just a little off. Often, the answer to that is baby hairs – natural hair typically has little visible baby hairs and wigs simply don’t have these.
This one is very dependent on personal choice because we know how annoying flyaway hairs can be. However, if you would prefer to have a few, there are a few things you can try. If you have natural hair under your wig (and it matches the color of the wig), you could tease a few little hairs out from under the wig cap to act as baby hairs.
Alternatively, you could trim a couple of wig hairs around your face to create a similar effect. Remember, this is about how to make a non-lace front wig look natural, not a haircut. Less is more, and if you’re worried about accidentally trimming too much and affecting the look, talk to a wig stylist or salon for help. It doesn’t have to be uniform or neat, but it can really help a non-lace wig look more natural.
5. Wash The Wig
Washing your wig can help to take off some of the shine of a new wig and help it sit more comfortably. We have dedicated guides to washing both human hair and synthetic wigs to ensure that your wig is properly cared for throughout the process.
You can also style your wig for a similar effect. Using hair accessories and styling tools (if they are appropriate for the wig) can make the look your own – while a pre-styled look is great to feel like you’ve just walked out of the salon, some days, you might prefer a low-key look.
